Myopia, or nearsightedness can easily be corrected for with glasses but some people just don’t like to wear them. Contact lenses or LASIK are other options, but for various reasons, they aren’t always the answer either.
Patients who want a non-invasive and less expensive alternative to LASIK, often find that orthokeratology (or ortho k) fits the bill. This method of correction is achieved by wearing specially designed contact lens while we sleep. The contacts are very comfortable and reshape the cornea during the night. They are removed upon awakening and the patient has completely normal distance vision without any correction.
This procedure is COMPLETELY SAFE and we also use it to stop the progression of myopia in children. To learn more, give us a call.
